Knife Angel
Welwyn Garden City town centre to host the Knife angel statue this October.
From 1st – 30th October, our town centre will host the Knife Angel, a powerful 27ft sculpture made from 100,000 knives collected during amnesties across the UK.
Throughout the month, you’ll find activities, workshops, and events in The Howard Centre and across the borough, all aimed at raising awareness of the impact of knife crime and promoting community safety.
The Knife Angel, designed and created by Alfie Bradley at the British Ironwork Centre, is a national monument created to highlight the negative effects of violence and aggression and solidifying the critical need for change. The 27-foot sculpture has been crafted from more than 100,000 knives and blades confiscated by the UK's 43 police forces. The sculpture aims to raise awareness about the consequences of knife crime and violence and to spark conversations about the need for social change and peace.
This is a unique and thought-provoking experience to see an iconic national monument right here in our town centre.
