Jonathan Field
Chairman of the Board
The current Welwyn Garden City BID term is due to end in March 2022. As such, we have now begun the process of renewal which will culminate in a vote by businesses in a ballot to be held late this year.
We have achieved a lot together over the last four years but in these challenging times we need to ensure that we create a new business plan which is fit for purpose for the next five years and beyond and your involvement is crucial, so we can build upon what we have already accomplished and ensure that our business community benefit from new opportunities and drive the future development of the area."
There will be forthcoming communications and updates in the weeks ahead, with regular Renewal e-bulletins to keep you updated, workshops to enable you to provide your input and new features on the BID website.

What is the BID Renewal?
Welwyn Garden City BID is a Business Improvement District both funded and governed by businesses located in the Welwyn Garden City BID boundaries. Since 2016, the BID team has carried out a five-year strategy which has raised the profile of Welwyn Garden City making it a safer, cleaner and livelier place to visit and do business. The current Welwyn Garden City BID term is due to end in March 2022 and must undergo what is called a ‘Renewal Ballot’. Businesses who are over a certain rateable value within the BID area will be asked to vote in favour of supporting a third five-year term. The outcome of the Renewal Vote will affect the future of the Welwyn Garden City business community.
