We are delighted that you are joining us for this extremely popular folk festival,
Oktoberfest in Welwyn Garden City town centre.
To ensure that you have as much fun as possible we have put a list together of frequently asked questions and answers for you to refer to prior to attending our Oktoberfest.
Important Information and FAQ's
Please not this is strictly over 18’s event and no children will be permitted. A challenge 25 policy will be in place. Please ensure you have valid ID on you.
Where is the event?
Since the original purchase of your ticket the event has changed location. Do not panic it is only a 1-minute walk from the original venue. The New location of Oktoberfest will be on the Campus Roundabout. Follow the signage in the town to the new venue.

Will there be disabled access?
Yes – There will be disabled access. If you require any special assistance, then please let us know in advance so we can make arrangements for you to ensure you enjoy the event.
Can I bring my dog?
This event is a strict no-dogs event with the exception of assistance dogs.
Will I be able to smoke at the event?
Smoking/Vaping will not be permitted in the Oktoberfest tent. We will have designated smoking and vaping areas available.
Can I bring in my own food and drink?
No – Only food and drink purchased from the event can be consumed on site. We will have traditional German Sausage available from The German Grill and Café 77: https://www.facebook.com/cafe77codicote/ will be serving a variety of burgers.
YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO BRING YOUR OWN ALCOHOL TO THE EVENT!
Drinking water will be available throughout the event.
What if I am not a drinker, will there be any non-alcoholic drinks?
Yes! There will be a selection of soft drinks as well as non-alcoholic beer, cider and even gin!
What beers will there be on offer?
We have a selection of German beers, German Wine and a variety of alternative drinks available.
All Alcoholic Drinks will be £5.00 and all Soft Drinks will be £2.00
Drinking water will be available throughout the session.
What time does the bar shut?
Session 1: 11:30am -4:30pm
Session 2: 5:30pm -10:30pm

Can I bring my own chair?
No – We have enough seating available for all ticket holders. You will not need to bring your own chair. If for any medical reasons you need to bring your own chair then please make a member of the events team aware.
Can I leave the event and return?
Yes – You will be able to leave the event and return. On return you will need to show your wrist band and ticket. Anyone with a lost or tampered with wrist band could be refused entry.
Can I pay using card?
Payments can be made VIA CASH ONLY
Are Cashpoints available?
There are a variety of cash points in the town centre for you to visit prior to the event. The nearest ones to the event space are Nationwide, Natwest and Barclays.
Can I get in without ID?
NO – Identification is a must. We will be operating a strict challenge 25 policy on the door. Anyone that does not have valid photo ID will be refused entry and no refund offered. Once you have shown ID you will be issued a wrist band that you will need to wear at all times.
What is a valid photo ID?
Acceptable forms of ID to prove you are over 18 include:
• A photo driving licence
• A passport
• A proof of age card, such as the PASS card from the national Proof of Age Standards Scheme.
It’s a criminal offence to use false or borrowed ID to gain entry to licensed premises or to buy alcohol. The maximum penalty is a £5,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison. 2
Are children allowed at the event?
This is an over 18’s event only. No children will be permitted at the event.
Do I need to print my ticket?
To help with queues please print your tickets in advance and have them ready to show security at the entrance.
Can I purchase a ticket on the door?
All tickets will need to be purchased prior the event and tickets will not be available on the door.
Are there toilets at the event?
Yes, we will have a selection of portable toilets available at the event.
We have a traditional Oompah Band leading the entertainment and DJ to keep you entertained.
