We are excited to announce that our very popular FREE, Cinema On The Green will be returning to Howardsgate, Welwyn Garden City this August.

Can I reserve tickets prior to the event? NO! As this is a FREE event we will not be reserving any advanced tickets. A queuing system will be in place and people will be allowed into the viewing area on a first come first served basis. We will try our best to accommodate everyone but do anticipate this being a very popular event so please don’t be disappointed if you can’t watch your first choice of film. Numbers are restricted for your safety and enjoyment.

Can we hire deck chairs? YES - We have a limited number of deck chairs to hire to enhance your experience at Screen On The Green. Deck chairs can be reserved in advance by clicking here: these chairs are available for £5.00. Hired deck are only permitted in the assigned area.

Can we stay for the whole day? With this being a FREE event, we anticipate it being very popular. After each film all cinema spectators will be asked to remove all their belongings and rubbish and will be asked to vacate the Green so that everyone gets a chance to enjoy the event.

Can we bring our own refreshments? YES - Please ensure that there is NO GLASS or SHARP OBJECTS. Please consider other film users enjoyment when packing snacks. You don’t want to be that person rustling around throughout the film.

Will there be refreshments? We encourage spectators to buy support our town centre businesses when purchasing refreshments, we are also looking to have some refreshments available within the event space.

Can you bring alcohol? Adults over the age of 18 can bring alcohol. No GLASS bottles are permitted. Please ensure that you have ID on you if you are planning on bringing alcohol as you may be asked to present this when asked. Please ensure all rubbish is placed in bins provided or taken with you at the end of each film.

Can we smoke or Vape? NO - For everyone’s enjoyment and safety reasons the Cinema on The Green is a NON- Smoking and non-vaping event.

Can we bring our own chairs? Yes – Chairs are welcome but you will be asked to sit to the side or the back to avoid blocking other spectators views.

Will there be disabled access? Yes – The event is fully inclusive to everyone and we will do our best to accommodate any special requirements. Please contact us in advance by emailing info@welwyngarden.co.uk

Can we bring dogs? NO! Unfortunately we are not allowing dogs in the Screen On The Screen event space. Assistance dogs will be allowed - Please speak to a member of our Screen On The Green team if you need any assistance on the day.

Are there toilets on-site? NO -We do not want to restrict the view and space for spectators to enjoy the free community event, so there will be NO toilets available within the events area. Public toilets are available at Sainsbury's, The Howard Centre, Jonn Lewis & Partners. We also have a range of small businesses that have toilet facilities, just ask.
With the recent heat waves we have been experiencing we will be monitoring the weather leading up to the event and during the event to ensure everyone enjoys the event safely and comfortably. We encourage that spectators come prepared with sun cream, hats, plenty of cold water. Cold water will be available to purchase within the vent space or you can fill up your bottles at one of our many businesses on our refill station app.
Please note that this is a FREE event and we anticipate it being extremely busy, please ensure you come to the film of your choice nice and early.
What do the BBFC ratings mean?
U - Suitable for all (please note children under the age of 14 will need to be with an adult during the event)
PG - Parental Guidance. This film is suitable for general viewing but some scenes may be unsuitable for younger children
12 - Suitable for children over the ager of 12 ONLY
12A No one younger than 12 may see the film unless accompanied by an adult.
